With every big-money advertiser trying to boil down the perfect Super Bowl ad into a formula, Volkswagen finally did the obvious. It parodies the process.

Like so many Super Bowl ads that fall flat, this pre-game video tries a little too hard. But that’s probably the point. And you can’t help but get a few yucks from it.

Babies. Puppies. Supermodels (actually, former Baywatch celeb Carmen Electra). This one can’t pile in enough extra gags, although we note the “algorithm” on the whiteboard also mentions selfies and twerking, which somehow we don’t see in the finished product.

Our favorite touch: Abe Lincoln in his stovepipe hat. Remember those Lincoln ads from Ford last year featuring Honest Abe and the supposed reinvention of the brand? Let’s see if Lincoln fires back.
